Have you ever looked under the hood of an ordinary automatic watch without any added complications? The watch complication is filled with hundreds of moving parts just to allow the hour, minute and second hand to move. Now imagine how much more complex the internal movement for a chronograph has to be, which can power up to three additional dials.
They are designed with extra complications that are characterised by mini-dials and extra push buttons on the righthand side of the bezel, that is used for monitoring different lengths of time.
The chronographs track passing seconds, minutes and hours and can also act as a stopwatch – which can be easily reset and used again. These functions have many uses for timing sports events, meeting lengths and for aspects of personal health. Some of the most popular chronograph watches, the racing watch, features a tri-compax layout with a tachymeter on the outside to help measure the car’s speed.
So, what are the best Chronograph watched under the £2,000 budget?
Finding a watch that not only provides the basic function of time telling but also gives you the use of up to 3 different dials, is an amazing feat – even more so if it is powered by an automatic movement.
